Leading Track I units
`You can start the HighQuest series with any of the units in Track I. However, we recommend that His Works or His Ways as the initial unit. Each of the units in Track I introduce the HighQuest series and gives the initial information needed to start a HighQuest Forum. The only spiritual discipline introduced in Track I is the Appointment with God. It is important that men learn how to use this skill well as it is the basis for all other HighQuest units. An Appointment with God (AWG) is actually composed of several disciplines: Solitude, prayer, meditation, reflection, journaling, and Scripture reading. It is important to spend time to adequately explain how to set up and have an AWG. If this is a new skill, it will take time for it to become a godly habit where the mechanics fade into the background and the focus becomes simply meeting with God.
Make sure you take time to read through and do the set up sessions. You may want to read some of the introductory material together in the forum as well as assign it to be read outside. In each unit of Track I there is a place to actually practice having an AWG together. If this is the first time the men in your Forum have implemented a daily AWG, it is helpful to not only explain the parts but do one together so they can see a model of how it is done.
The Lifeline page is an important part of the initial set up. It is worth the extra time for each man to share his lifeline with the group. You may need to set up an extra meeting just for this experience. It is amazing how the group bonds together once each has had the opportunity to share his story with others in the group. Don't assume men know each other's lifeline even if they have been friends for years.
